Katja Mia is ’embracing the change’ as she gets married, starts new job and turns 30 this month

The newest addition to 2FM is set to kick off co-presenting the new Drive slot alongside Laura Fox from next week – May is a month of huge changes for her but she’s loving it

It’s a big month for Katja Mia as she is starting a new job, getting married and turning 30 this month.

The former Six O’Clock Show host is swapping the screen for the radio studio as she signed off from the Virgin Media show and will be co-hosting the 2FM Drive slot from next week.

Katja, who will be presenting alongside Laura Fox, said that she didn’t plan for so much change to happen at once.

“I didn’t even plan this,” she laughed to RSVP Live. “I turn 30 in May, I have my hen party in May, I’m getting married in May and then we’re debuting our new show in May. I don’t know why I do this to myself! I don’t want to stress myself out like this, but it just so happens that it’s all happening at the same time.

“If you want to get a bit witchy woo woo, I’m into astrology, I love all that; the Saturn return, turning 30, it’s all coming together. I’m embracing the change in the most positive way.”

She added: “At the same time, I think my life is just chaos and I thrive in chaos. The more chaotic, the better.”

Katja said goodbye to the Six O’Clock Show and her co-host Brian Dowling last month, but she’s excited for her new chapter.

“I love welcoming new opportunities,” she said. “When I started covering maternity leave for Blathnaid [Treacy], I was so nervous about it. I’m someone that in the past, I used to feel like I had to be an absolute expert at this to give it a shot.

“But the thing is about radio, it’s live and anything goes. No matter how much you rehearse, it doesn’t apply because it’s all about being super authentic and rolling with it. The more experience I had doing Saturday and Sunday morning, which was so much fun, I just fell in love with it.

“In the same way, doing live television – when I started on Ireland AM I was petrified. But then you just do it. It’s so exciting and I’m just welcoming the opportunity with two hands. I love doing things that scare me, especially in this stage in my career so I’ve been really, really excited.”

2FM Drive with Laura and Katja airs weekdays from 3pm to 6pm
