Pakistan, China vow to strengthen CPEC, strategic partnership at Beijing forum

The fourth meeting of the China-Pakistan Political Parties Forum and the CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultative Mechanism was held in Beijing on Sunday, bringing together leaders and representatives from both countries to discuss bilateral cooperation and the future of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar shared details of the meeting through a post on X, describing the discussions as “very positive and fruitful.”

The meeting was co-chaired by Ishaq Dar and Liu Haisheng, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC).

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Pakistani delegation included Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal and representatives of 12 political parties from Pakistan, including members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Speaking about the significance of the forum, Ishaq Dar said the meeting provided an excellent opportunity for meaningful dialogue between the political parties of Pakistan and China. He said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint efforts aimed at strengthening strategic mutual trust and advancing CPEC 2.0.

The deputy prime minister added that the two countries pledged to enhance economic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people contacts as part of their long-standing bilateral partnership.

Highlighting the importance of the year, Ishaq Dar said that on the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, both nations were determined to further strengthen the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

“We are determined to build a China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era,” he said.
