Govt Approves Expansion of Major Motorway to Three Lanes



Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has approved the expansion of the Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad section of the M-4 Motorway from two lanes to three lanes on both sides.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Abdul Aleem Khan to review National Highway projects and motorway infrastructure. The federal minister directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to complete the M-4 motorway expansion project within one month after construction work begins.

Abdul Aleem Khan also instructed the NHA to strictly implement an alternative traffic management plan during the construction period to reduce inconvenience for commuters.

During the meeting, it was decided that contractors would be held responsible in cases of project delays or increases in project costs. The meeting also approved the establishment of a monitoring cell within the NHA to oversee ongoing development projects.

In addition, Abdul Aleem Khan directed the NHA to ensure installation of lighting and plantation of low water consumption plants along the road from Islamabad International Airport to Tarnol Interchange.
