The State is in for another round of rough weather today with the State Meteorological Centre issuing an orange alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by hail/lightning/gusty winds (40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph)/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.
A yellow warning has also been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty winds (40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph)/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining mountainous districts of the State. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/ gusty winds (speed 40-50 Kmph gusting to 60 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in plains districts of Uttarakhand.
Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms/ snowfall (at altitudes of 4,200 metres and above) are likely to occur at many places in the mountainous districts while light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the remaining districts.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky today with light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (40-50kmph) also likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 32 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. The State government has already put its machinery on alert considering the thousands of additional people travelling to various parts of the State due to the ongoing Char Dham Yatra.
