Dua Lipa has filed a lawsuit against Samsung, seeking at least $15 million in damages over the alleged unauthorised use of her photograph on television packaging in the United States, according to media reports.
The complaint was filed in a California district court on Friday. Lipa alleged that Samsung used her image on television screen displays printed on cardboard packaging for televisions sold in the US last year without her consent or a licensing agreement.
According to the lawsuit, the image was taken backstage before her performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2024.
The singer said she became aware of the alleged use in June 2025 and asked the company to stop using the image. The complaint alleged Samsung continued using the image despite repeated objections.
Lipa claimed the company commercially benefited by creating the impression that she endorsed the products.
The lawsuit includes allegations of copyright infringement, violation of California publicity rights, trademark violations and breaches under the Lanham Act.
The complaint also stated that Lipa has previously entered endorsement partnerships with companies including Apple, Porsche, Versace, Bulgari and Nespresso.
Lipa is seeking a permanent injunction against Samsung, along with punitive damages and legal costs.
