Railway New Ticket Booking System: Millions of people travel by train every day. Many people book tickets months in advance to ensure they get a confirmed ticket. However, it has often been observed that passengers face many problems due to which they are unable to get a ticket, such as slow servers and lack of ticket confirmation information. But now, to overcome these problems, Indian Railways is going to completely change its 40-year-old Passenger Reservation System (PRS). This new system will be equipped with AI technology, which will make ticket booking faster and easier than before.
The 40-year-old system will undergo major changes.
According to the Railways, the current reservation system was introduced in 1986. While minor changes have been made in the interim, it is now undergoing a complete upgrade. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has instructed officials to shift trains to the new system from August.
Why was a new system necessary?
Ever since online ticket booking began, its increased use has significantly increased the pressure on the old system.
About 88 percent of ticket bookings in the country are now done online.
This causes the old system to slow down during high traffic.
Also, passengers face difficulty receiving real-time updates.
The Growing Popularity of the RailOne App
Indian Railways’ RailOne app is rapidly gaining popularity.
This app was launched last July and has been downloaded more than 35 million times.
It also offers both ticket booking and complaint resolution.
