The chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated a 50-bed Kedarnath Charitable Hospital at Kedarnath Dham built under the aegis of Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society. Located at an altitude of approximately 12,000 feet, it would serve both pilgrims and the local community to ensure that essential healthcare services are available without financial barriers, said the CM. SVHMS functionaries said that the newly inaugurated hospital is equipped with extensive medical facilities, curated to endure the challenges of high-altitude conditions. These facilities include emergency care in difficult terrains, pulmonary medicine, cardiology emergency care, trauma and accident care, orthopaedics, general medicine and a fully functional critical care unit (ICU). It also offers additional services related to oxygen bank, portable ventilators and a 24/7 ambulance service, which further highlight its emergency response capabilities, SVHMS said. These are essential healthcare provisions for those embarking on the Char Dham Yatra.
Notably, SVHMS, founded in 2012, has been providing free and accessible healthcare across mountainous regions.
