Next’s new butter yellow asymmetric lace co-ord set is a stunning and affordable summer fashion pick for any occasion
As the summer months draw closer, numerous popular high street shops have begun revealing collections ideal for sun-drenched picnics, exotic holidays and more. Next is among those retailers, introducing some ‘gorgeous’ new pieces including a butter yellow silky co-ord that provides remarkable flexibility for various occasions, whether that’s a visit to the local, a Christening or a birthday barbecue.
The Yellow Asymmetric Lace Midi Skirt combined with the matching Yellow Asymmetric Cami Lace Top are priced at €45 and €36 respectively – totalling €81 – and both are available in sizes six through to 26. Displayed in butter yellow, this season’s standout colour – a trend carrying over from 2025, the skirt and top seem to boast a lightweight, silky soft material and flowing shape, perfect for warmer days.
The skirt boasts an asymmetric hemline, as its title suggests, which is enhanced by delicate lace trim that adds a whimsical and bohemian element to the garment. This feature is mirrored in the matching top through its own asymmetric hemline and square neckline. With an elasticated waistband that sits subtly under the coordinating yellow top, the skirt offers comfort in the summer warmth and would look lovely teamed with a white tee and chunky sandals for a more relaxed vibe.
Alternatively, style the top with denim and ballet flats for a smart-casual outfit ideal for a visit to the local. Add a yellow knit (like this €32.99 ASOS DESIGN knitted wide sleeve cotton blend jumper ) when the weather cools, tapping into the layering trend.
For those after something more ethereal, Free People is well worth a browse, with its Bare Bliss Skirt Set retailing at €108.80 and coming in five different colours. The set comprises a flowing maxi skirt and V-neck tiered vest, reports Belfast Live.
Having only just dropped on the Next website, we expect this two-piece to become a summer staple – and while there aren’t any customer reviews up yet, the brand recently featured it on its Instagram page. Promptly, shoppers were quick to share their admiration for the design, with one commenter writing: “That yellow”, alongside a fire emoji. Another commenter gushed: “Oh these are so gorgeous.”
While nobody has flagged any issues in the comments, this particular fabric (83% livaeco viscose and 17% nylon) can occasionally cause static, so you might want to think about popping a slip skirt underneath for a seamless finish.
Given the light colour, there’s also the possibility of it being slightly see-through, so make sure to wear nude underwear when styling it. That said, these are small considerations when it comes to nailing a stunning summer ensemble.
