Good morning, and welcome to a VERY packed day of covering the outfits from last night’s Met Gala, which was a juicy sight to behold — people went wild and had fun with the theme, mostly, the most bonkers (or in one case, pointed) of which you’ll see in the next post of the day. We’ll start, as we always do, with the Gala’s official hosts. And yes, that includes the She-zos, aka Lauren Sanchez, who walked the carpet alone while her squirrelly little husband snuck in the back like a wimp. If you want to skip her, and who could blame you, she is last in this gallery — just exit once you get to Anna Wintour.
As a refresher, the exhibit is “Costume Art,” which “explores depictions of the dressed body across The Met’s vast collection, pairing garments with artworks to reveal the inherent relationship between clothing and the body.” The Gala itself went with the looser “Fashion As Art,” and people seemed at times to embrace both.
Beyonce hadn’t gone to the Met Gala in 10 years (which we covered in this retrospective of all that she has worn there), and she said a driving force behind returning this year was to bring Blue Ivy and see it all through her eyes. I hate to bring this up, but the comments last time we featured Blue Ivy turned totally DERANGED and I beg of everyone please to BE COOL this time, my God, or I will turn this car around. Thank you.
