Apparently no celebrity can do an interview without being asked if they like Heated Rivalry — I believe this is now codified as law — and Victoria Beckham said she’d seen it and then jumped to complimenting Connor Storrie’s sense of style. He repaid the favor, or wanted to give her a gift on her hubby David’s birthday, by wearing head-to-toe Victoria Beckham x The Gap for his surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live (Olivia Rodrigo did double duty, so he introduced one of her songs; he’s likely in town for tonight’s Met Gala). These are not explicitly described as womenswear, but are filed under “Women” and are shown on the Gap site on female models only, so it’s a creative play from him. You can still get the sweatshirt in some sizes — it’s a bonkers $128 just for something that says GAP and VICTORIA BECKHAM on it — and the cropped denim jacket (also $128 and does not, as you might imagine, look as cropped on the model as it does on Connor). The jeans, along with almost everything else, seem to be sold out, and may have been even before any potential Storrie Bump. No idea. With apologies to VB, I wasn’t paying attention because I knew I didn’t want any of it. Don’t tell her; she’ll be so devastated.
If we want to be really picky, I’d say the black accessories aren’t my favorite with a navy sweatshirt, but I DO think combat boots are a good finish to this. The purse is charming and unexpected, though I keep thinking his arm is in a sling until my eyes adjust. Overall, it’s comfy if not bracingly stylish — no posh and just a dash of spice — and that is likely the point. This is probably ideal for slinking into SNL unnoticed and then going to the afterparty. I applaud him for doing so in an outfit commonly called a Canadian Tuxedo, so we can say it’s a salute to the country that gave him his big break. Best gift ever. Canada, I don’t know what to get you in return. I make good cookies?
