As Lorcan continues to pester Carol for a job in the bookies to fund his festival plans, a stressed Carol offers him the money to get him off her case. JJ reassures her that he’ll find another way to handle Buckley without Ger. Unbeknownst to JJ, Carol gives Ger the cash she’d asked for, hoping it will persuade her to back down. Carol warns Ger that Buckley will soon turn his attention to her, but Ger insists she can’t afford to take any chances. JJ and Carol are relieved when Ger later arrives and agrees to go along with JJ’s scheme to get Buckley off their backs. Ger meets with Buckley and pretends she has no information on Steo, but advises him that a large cash drop is due at one of JJ’s bookies. JJ is cautious when Ger tells him she planted the rumour, though Carol argues Ger would have ratted already if she intended to. When Buckley pushes Ger for more detail on the supposed cash delivery, Ger assures JJ he believed the story. JJ keeps a separate plan hidden from both Carol and Ger.
