Islamabad cattle market traffic plan 2026 Routes

The Islamabad authorities have made elaborate arrangements under the Islamabad cattle market traffic plan 2026 to control traffic congestion around temporary cattle markets in the federal capital during Eid al-Adha. Over 350 traffic police officers have been deployed by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles, improve public safety and reduce traffic disruption during the peak livestock trading season.

The massive operation is the result of a coordinated plan between traffic authorities, district administration and motorway police as thousands of residents continue to flock to sacrificial animal markets across the capital.

Six official cattle markets approved for Eid in Islamabad

The district administration has given permission to six temporary cattle markets in Islamabad to regulate the livestock trade and stop the illegal sale of animals on the roadside. The approved market areas are I-12, Barakahu, Sangjani, Japan Road, Lehtrar Road near Sultana Foundation and Zia Masjid.

Officials said that the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals outside these designated areas is strictly banned. The move is aimed at better management of crowds, maintaining hygiene standards and reducing traffic snarls in residential and commercial areas.

Heavy public turnout is expected in the official markets in the days before Eid al-Adha.

Special parking arrangements near cattle markets in Islamabad

The Islamabad Traffic Police has imposed strict parking rules in the areas around all six cattle markets. Visitors are not allowed to park vehicles on the verge of roads near the entrances to the market and on the roads around.

To ensure organised traffic flow and reduce congestion, dedicated parking zones have been set up for each market. Traffic officials are out in force in those areas to make sure everyone is following the parking rules.

To strengthen enforcement, six forklifts have been deployed on key traffic beats to immediately remove illegally parked vehicles and clear encroachments that may obstruct traffic movement.

Traffic diversion, commuter advisory for Islamabadites

Motorists have been asked to avoid the approach roads to the cattle markets during peak evening hours due to the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Traffic police are still providing live updates on routes to help commuters sail through busy areas with efficiency.

Authorities are urging residents to use alternate routes where possible to help ease delays around livestock markets. Public cooperation is being highlighted as a major factor for smooth traffic flow during the Eid shopping period.

The Islamabad Traffic Police is also using digital communication platforms and social media channels to give live updates on congestion, diversions and emergency traffic management instructions.

NHMP explains restrictions on animal transport vehicles

Separately, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has also imposed restrictions on vehicles carrying sacrificial animals on entering the major motorways. The policy is aimed at preventing accidents, improving highway safety, and reducing the severe traffic congestion caused by overloaded transport vehicles.

Authorities said that during the Eid season, animal transport vehicles often create dangerous traffic situations due to slow-moving vehicles, improper loading and sudden traffic bottlenecks.

The ban is part of national efforts to improve public safety and traffic discipline during one of Pakistan’s busiest travel times.

Islamabad’s plan to manage Eid traffic in a synchronised manner

The deployment of hundreds of traffic officers and enforcement teams underscores the rising significance of organised urban traffic management by Islamabad in major religious gatherings. Security agencies are still focusing on making it easier for commuters, ensuring safety, and improving traffic flow across the city.

Enhanced coordination of emergency response, parking enforcement and route management systems is in place to cope with the expected surge in public movement during the Eid holidays.

Summary

The special traffic arrangements in connection with Eid cattle markets in Islamabad are a proactive step to control congestion and ensure road safety during the festive period. Authorities are setting up special livestock markets, enforcing parking rules and issuing better commuter advisories to make it easier for people to get around the federal capital.

The joint measures by Islamabad Traffic Police and other agencies reflect a growing preparedness for urban planning and contribute towards safer and more organised Eid market operations throughout the city.
