QUETTA: At least 10 people were injured in an explosion near Chaman Phatak in Quetta after a blast occurred on a railway track, police said.
The incident also caused a fire in a bogie of the Jaffar Express and disrupted train operations in the area.
Authorities have launched an investigation as security forces cordoned off the site.
According to police, the explosion took place on the railway track near Chaman Phatak while the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express was passing through the area.
The blast resulted in damage to the train, including a fire that broke out in one of the bogies. Control of the situation was later restored by emergency responders.
10 people injured, hospitalised
Police confirmed that 10 people were injured in the explosion.
All injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, while emergency was declared in government hospitals to handle the situation. Medical staff and doctors were called in to manage the response.
Following the blast, railway authorities stopped the Jaffar Express at Quetta station as a precautionary measure.
The train sustained partial damage due to the explosion, while nearby infrastructure was also affected, including shattered windows in surrounding buildings.
Security forces seal off area
Security forces and law enforcement agencies quickly reached the site and cordoned off the entire area.
Rescue teams were also dispatched to assist in clearing debris, ensuring safety, and supporting injured passengers.
An investigation has been launched to determine the nature and cause of the explosion.
