NEW DELHI: Petrol and diesel prices were increased by up to 91 paise per litre ton May 23, marking the third hike in less than 10 days.
In Delhi, the price of petrol has been increased by 87 paise to Rs 99.51 per litre, while diesel has gone up by 91 paise to Rs 92.49 per litre.
This is the third revision in fuel rates after a Rs 3 per litre hike on the 15th of this month, followed by a 90 paise increase on May 19. Overall, prices have risen by nearly Rs 5 per litre in recent days.
The increase comes amid a sharp surge in global crude oil prices following the Iran conflict and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, retail price of compressed natural gas (CNG) was raised in the national Capital by Rs 1 per kg, marking the third revision in 10 days.
Price of CNG in New Delhi was raised to Rs 81.09 per kg from Rs 80.09 per kg, according to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL).
Prices in neighbouring cities such as Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have risen to Rs 89.70 per kg, and Gurugram to Rs 86.12 per kg.
