Zafar Shaikh visits Aaghosh Home Trust, appeals to corporate sector to support shelterless women and orphan girls – The Financial Daily


KARACHI: Former Advisor to the Governor State Bank of Pakistan, former Director General Debt Management and former Director General Pakistan National Savings, Ministry of Finance Islamabad, Zafar Shaikh, visited Aaghosh Home Trust on Thursday and appreciated its humanitarian services for shelterless women and differently abled orphan girls.
On his arrival, Zafar Shaikh was received by Aaghosh Home Trust President Shugafta Saba, Secretary General Muhammad Jazib and Trustee Manzar Naqvi, who briefed him about the mission, background and ongoing welfare activities of the Trust.
During the briefing, it was informed that Aaghosh Home Trust has been serving humanity for the last 25 years by providing shelter, care, protection and support to helpless, shelterless and vulnerable women along with differently abled orphan girls. The Trust has been working with dedication to create a safe and respectful environment for residents who have no proper family support or secure place to live.
Zafar Shaikh visited different sections of the Trust and met the resident mothers and sisters living at Aaghosh Home. He personally witnessed the services being provided to them, including accommodation, care, food, basic facilities and emotional support. The residents warmly welcomed him and offered prayers for his health, success and prosperity.
Speaking on the occasion, Zafar Shaikh lauded the selfless services of Aaghosh Home Trust and said that caring for shelterless women and orphan girls is one of the noblest causes in society. He observed that institutions like Aaghosh deserve full support from philanthropists, business leaders and welfare-minded citizens because they are serving those segments of society that need compassion, dignity and protection the most.
He assured the management of his support for this noble cause and said that the work being done by Aaghosh Home Trust reflects true humanitarian spirit. He said that the residents of the Trust are not merely beneficiaries but mothers, sisters and daughters of the nation who deserve respect, care and long-term institutional support.
Zafar Shaikh also appealed to the corporate sector of Pakistan to come forward and play an active role in supporting Aaghosh Home Trust. He said that corporate organizations, banks, business groups, industrialists and chambers of commerce should adopt such welfare initiatives as part of their social responsibility.
He particularly emphasized the need to support the Trust in acquiring its own building, noting that Aaghosh Home is currently operating from a rented premises. He said that a permanent building would provide greater stability, dignity and security to the residents and would enable the Trust to expand its services in a more organized and sustainable manner.
“Aaghosh Home Trust has been serving vulnerable women and differently abled orphan girls for 25 years. It is now the responsibility of society, especially the corporate sector, to support this noble mission and help the Trust establish its own permanent home,” he said.
President Aaghosh Home Trust Shugafta Saba thanked Zafar Shaikh for visiting the Trust and taking personal interest in its welfare activities. She said that Aaghosh Home Trust has always tried to serve residents with love, care and dignity despite limited resources.
Secretary General Muhammad Jazib also highlighted the challenges faced by the Trust, including rising expenses, rental costs and the growing need for medical, food and care-related support. He said that continuous public and corporate cooperation is essential to sustain and expand the Trust’s services.
