Masters of the Universe has been in development for AGES with all kinds of people attached in various roles: John Woo, Joel Silver, Jon M. Chu, McG, Kellan Lutz, Noah Centineo, Lord & Miller, Sony, Warner Bros., Netflix, Amazon. It arrives directed by Travis Knight, who did Bumblebee, and starring Nicholas Galitzine of… well, so many things right now, including The Sheep Detectives. I want this to be as wry and funny and self-aware as Dungeons & Dragons was, but if it is, they are REALLY tamping that down in the trailer. We’ll see. Or maybe we won’t! All I know is that the beans keep explaining to me why Skeletor is popular with Kids Today and it doesn’t seem to be for ANY reasons they have included in the movie, and entirely because they think he’s hilarious. But he’s played by (the absent) Jared Leto, so how funny can he even be? Sigh. Anyway, do She-Ra next, folks.
