Pakistan Railways Announces Launch Date for Upgraded Awam Express

Pakistan Railways has announced May 24 as the launch date for the upgraded Awam Express, with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi set to formally inaugurate the service ahead of Eid ul Adha.

The government has decided to relaunch the train as part of a wider push to improve the railway system and facilitate passengers during the holiday season, when travel demand typically rises across the country.

According to the railways minister, the Awam Express is being completely upgraded and will return as a more modern service aimed at offering a better travel experience to the public. He said the revamped train will provide passengers with a journey that is more comfortable, faster, and higher in quality than before.

Abbasi also said the upgraded service will complete its route, especially to Karachi, in less time than it previously did. While he did not share the revised journey duration, he said the changes were being introduced to improve efficiency and passenger convenience on one of the country’s better-known train services.

The minister said the relaunch is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize Pakistan Railways through safer operations, improved facilities, and better-quality travel services for the public.

He added that the railway reform and upgradation process is continuing, and more premium train services will also be launched from major cities in the future.

The plan, he said, is to gradually expand better travel options for passengers while upgrading the overall standard of rail services across the country.
