Liz Kavanagh has sadly passed away after a battle with colon cancer.

The Galway woman recently tied the knot in March with partner Kieran O’Malley in a sweet and intimate ceremony after she was moved in hospice care.

Her death notice on RIP.ie reads: “The death has occurred of Liz (Elizabeth) Kavanagh O’Malley, Knocknacarra, and formerly Parnell Ave., Mervue, Galway / Cortoon, Galway.

“Peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Galway Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Liz will be sadly missed by her loving family; husband Kieran, mother Eileen (Finnegan) and Father Gerard, granny Mary, sister Bernie, brother Joe, mother-in-law Mary, father-in-law Johnny sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, God-daughter Chloe, God-son Eoin, aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

“A loving wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, neighbour and friend. May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.”

Funeral details were also shared: “Reposing at The Church of the Holy Family, Mervue, Galway (H91 FH52) on Tuesday evening, May 19, from 5pm to 6:30pm.

“Funeral arriving at St Patrick’s Church Cortoon (H54 N226) on Wednesday morning for Funeral Mass at 12.00 noon. Burial afterwards in Cortoon Cemetery.”

Liz was told she first had cancer towards the end of 2024, and had bravely been fighting the disease ever since. She has over 20,000 followers on Instagram, where she shared updates about her condition and chemotherapy treatments.

She got engaged to her now-husband, Kieran O’Malley, back in October of last year.

Liz shared some gorgeous pictures of the ceremony, where she wore a stunning white dress, on social media, writing, “So today we officially tied the knot and are now Mr & Mrs O’Malley.

“We had a great day surrounded by family and friends, and it was all that we could have asked for.”
