Phillip was once the most famous face on British TV, but dramatically exited ITV three years ago when it came to light he had an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger male colleague
Phillip Schofield has shared an update on his life three years on from a scandal at ITV which resulted in him leaving the broadcaster.
The TV presenter was once one of the UK’s most popular media personalities and fronted a number of shows on ITV, including This Morning, Dancing On Ice and The Cube.
But in May 2023, Phillip suddenly left This Morning, which he co-hosted with Holly Willoughby, after it came to light that he had an affair with a younger colleague.
As a result, he immediately parted ways with ITV and his talent agency, YMU.
At the time, Phillip admitted to having a “consensual on-off relationship” with a younger male colleague, adding that it was “unwise but not illegal”.
Three years on from the scandal, Phillip has now spoken about his new life away from the spotlight.
The 64-year-old explained that there is no way back to a TV career, but he is content with his new way of life.
In an email sent to the Daily Mail, Phillip said: “Life is really calm and drama free now. I decided a while ago that I just wanted a quiet life with family, friends I can trust and my dog.
“Therefore I keep my head down as much as possible.
“The past few years were, as you know, utterly brutal on so many levels and I came to terms with the fact that there was no way back.
“I’ve got used to my new life and I’m content with that and happy.”
Phillip was last seen on television in 2024, when he took part in Channel 5’s three-part series, Cast Away.
The show saw him marooned on an uninhabited tropical island off the coast of Madagascar for 10 days as he was filmed learning how to cope and survive.
Phillip’s This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby also left the show, months after his shock departure.
Holly continued to work on ITV on Dancing On Ice, but the reality figure skating competition was axed in 2025.
She then hosted Netflix reality show Celebrity Bear Hunt, which was canned after one season.
The mum of three, who is founder of wellness brand Wylde Moon, recently teased an upcoming project.
Holly wrote on Instagram last week: “Just had a brilliant meeting about a project I’m really excited about… things are happening at quite the pace! Can’t wait to bring it life and share it with you.”
