Noah Wyle teases which holiday ‘The Pitt’ Season 3 will revolve around

The Pitt series co-creator and star Noah Wyle gave a major update on Season 3 just as production is expected to begin on the newest season.

During a recent appearance at the Warner Bros. Upfronts with his co-star Katherine LaNasa, Wyle shared when Season 3 is expected to take place. Every season of the Emmy Award-winning medical drama takes place over the course of a single 12-hour shift in Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency room, with every episode comprising a single hour of the shift.

“We’re about to start production on Season 3,” Wyle said, per Deadline. “It’s set in early November, just before the holidays, ushering in a whole new set of emergencies and confrontations and complications.”

It has already been revealed that The Pitt Season 3 will also take place during a holiday, as Season 2 took place on the Fourth of July. There are reports the new season may take place on Veteran’s Day, just ahead of Thanksgiving. This would make sense considering the cast now features three major characters who are veterans in Shawn Hatosy‘s Dr. Shawn Abbott, Sepideh Moafi‘s Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, and guest star Jeff Kober’s Duke Ekins.

A November holiday also means Wyle’s character, Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch will be back from his sabbatical. The Pitt Season 2 ended with Dr. Robby debating if he should still take his trip, but Wyle confirmed during a recent panel that he did end up taking his break from work and will be returning to the emergency room.

The Pitt Season 3 is set to begin production soon. Executive producer and director John Wells has already confirmed The Pitt Season 3 will return in January with 15 episodes again, following a similar release schedule as previous seasons.

But the show will look quite different compared to Season 2. Actress Supriyah Ganesh, who plays Dr. Mohan on The Pitt, confirmed she is exiting the series ahead of Season 2. Ganesh was a fan-favorite on the show but Variety reports “Ganesh’s exit is a story-driven decision,” according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Meanwhile, Ayesha Harris, who plays night shift’s Dr. Parker Ellis, has been upped to a series regular and will be “pulling a double shift next season,” as Harris put it on social media.

The Pitt has already secured five Emmy wins and two Golden Globes for Season 1. Season 2 did not disappoint, which means the new season will certainly get some recognition when Emmy nominations are announced in July.

The Pitt is streaming now on HBO Max.
