Your Cannes jury this year: Jury President Park Chan-wook (South Korea), Ruth Negga (Ethiopian-Irish), Demi Moore (USA), Stellan Skarsgård (Sweden), Chloé Zhao (China), Isaach de Bankolé (Ivory Coast), Laura Wandel (Belgium), Diego Céspedes (Chile), and Paul Laverty (Scotland). Am I familiar with all of those people? No, but I’m about to be! Isaach, indeed, taught me today that if you’re from Ivory Coast, you’re called an Ivorian.
Demi Moore has been everywhere lately thanks to The Substance, so what she wears feels like it MIGHT be pretty predictable. Chloe Zhao has likewise been around a lot because of Hamnet , but as you’ll see, she can still pitch a curveball. And Ruth Negga has been lying low lately, so I’m very pleased to have her back and see what she might do here. Bring it, everyone.
